There was a deer on the side of the road, and in the right lane and in the middle lane and for the next 20' of highway. I can only imagine this is what hit it.

Years ago I was caravanning to Ohio with a friend. She was in front in the fast lane on a nearly-empty highway as we crossed a small bridge right near the Ohio border.
On said bridge their was a panicked dear darting all over the place because it couldn’t figure out how to get off the bridge. She veered into the shoulder on the fast lane side to avoid it, and I (having more time to maneuver) stood on the brakes and veered way over into the slow lane. The deer changed direction at the last second, and she clipped it with her right headlight, and sent the skidding across three lanes, where I hit the carcass straight on and ran over it in a low-slung station wagon.
I’m guessing we left a similarly bloody mess behind us, because when we pulled off the next exit the side of her car was splattered with blood, and my car had it covering all four wheels and splattered up on the whole lower half of the car. Despite about $15 in quarters at a do-it-yourself car wash, the mess under my car resulted in it getting more and more nasty smelling as the day went on.
The drive home from Ohio was driving rain the whole way, which I was grateful for as it washed out the remaining deer.
