I Really Expected to Find Some Loose Change

But instead I found a paperclip, a duplicate house key (lost, or a good hiding space?), and this 24 year old oil change reminder cling. That’s all that was under the center console in my Fiero. My other Fiero gave me like $1 (which was a neat ROI to a small extent). This one gave me history. (The car is an 85, for anyone like me that wants to nerd out on the miles per year she’s done before and after 1993.)

In other news, I’m excited to try driving with the newly installed short shifter. Ever since the first car I installed a short shifter on, I’ve been sold on them. I would have gone for a cruise tonight, but I parked the truck behind and it’s raining out.

I found about $3.50 in the center console of mine (seriously), but I had to remove 1-2" of cigarette ash first. It was disgusting.

My parents once managed to buy a Bonneville SSEi before it had gone through dealer clean-up after trade-in, yet it was really clean still. It had been a traveling salesman’s car, so it had, if I remember right, about 50k-60k miles on a 2 year old car. But in the center console, he had stored all his change. Since it hadn’t gone through clean-up, the change was all ours. My brother and I got to split it, and I think we got $25 each.

I’ll have to get a new glamour shot of the interior, with the more appropriate height shift lever. Mmmm... dat 80's feeling all over.

Just back from the first cruise. After you install a different shifter, you really realize how little you shift when you only have four forward gears.
