As I was playing with looking at my son’s 3.0 CSL, I noticed these holes in the trunk lid. Hot Wheels will often add odd bits to the clear plastic piece for structural stability, but this struck me as more cosmetic and not very structural at all.

Through some Google searching, I did in fact find the same holes on one 3.0 CSL featured at the 2015 NYIAS. Also another pic of an Autoart diecast with the same holes. And Autoart doesn’t mess around.

Additional searching has left me fruitless as to the purpose of these holes. Weight reduction? Some sort of suspension components? Gangsta subwoofers so the entire hood can hear your bass?

Fuel fillers. There are two holes because the pits are on different sides at different tracks.

The ignoramus in me wants to say those holes provide some sort of low-pressure vacuum effect to remove heat from the rear brakes. That’s a complete shot in the dark, so don’t roast me on a spit pls.

IT’s OK - most of us have the same problem.
