Kinja'd!!!

At lunch I ran to the Xfinity store to drop off my modem since I bought my own a while ago and forgot ot return the loaner and get 10$/month off my bill. I walk in and the rep who helped me goes “Oh....you’re out of contract with us and are doing month to month” I tell them yeah, but the rate didn’t go up much and I didn’t feel like doing any games of signing with someone else or whatever to get another promo rate. He goes “But if you were willing to commit to another year, would you do it to save some money?” So I say sure, why not? “Okay, you can stay at the same speed you’re at now and save 20$ a month, or double your speed and save 5$ a month”.

Results are pictured. 15$ less per month than before. Double speed. THank all the stars that charter and AT&T and a few others moved in cause damn did Xfinity up their pricing game.

I hate being under a contract, but it’s a necessary evil. About 3 months ago or so I killed my bundle and only kept my FiOS internet. I upped my speed to 50/50 which is WAY more than I’ll ever need.

But, I was getting abysmal speeds even with the new speed tier. Switching to my 5G band made all the difference in the world.

Is that normal speed for you guys? US internet access is garbage. What do you pay per month from those speeds?

Yeah, why is that? You plug it in and its lit, but on wireless it leaves something to be desired....

Around 50$... it’s above what the average japanese has... most people here have 100Mbps.... I have 1Gbps. It’s not really usefull to most people though, as regular HDD can’t even cope up with this speed. In Korea, it’s standard though...

Hey, StarCraft 1 demands only the fastest internet! Ignore the fact that the netcode was designed to accommodate 56k....

Low quality routers. The rental I had was a hot dumpster fire compared to my.new one. Old one did maybe 25-30 Mbps. New one got me my full 75 and can handle the 150+ with ease.

I really need to upgrade from my junk five year old router. I have speeds that are a guaranteed minimum of 300mbps and can top out at 1gb.

Funny story about mine, I found out my credit card had been giving me.reward points for the past two years. I cashed it all in for Amazon gift cards since they were the best value. I bought a Netgear nighthawk router/modem combo and it has been sweeeeeeeet. But it costs 175$+

Wait for a gold box deal and jump on something similar

That’s exactly what I’ve been wanting but haven’t been able to bring myself to pay the price or they come on sale at a bad time.

Wireless is generally just a slower and less reliable way to transmit information compared to a wire.

Sadly, that was my home WiFi... this is my Verizon service (currently raining outside, maybe that explains the upload?)

And to think I was excited about my new speeds after moving to a city last week.

$35/month for 12 months. Could get 50Mb/s for $50. Both are introductory rates for new customers. This is up from 5Mb/s I had at my parents. It was the only option.

Canadian speeds are low and prices are high.
