Ohio class all day, the Typhoon class is like an ex-rental Mustang at this point. It looks good on paper, but it’s been abused in ways you can’t imagine.

The Typhoon, naturally.

the typhoon has good numbers, better depth, speed, more weapons options more nuclear reactors , but the ohio, just seems to be more purpose built.......

Ohio, as it’s way more stealthy. You’re also missing the 24 Trident SLBMs that the Ohio SSBNs carry and the 154 Tomahawks the Ohio SSGNs carry.

Cool as the Typhoon is, most Ohios are newer and more advanced at this point. I’ll go with the Ohio.

Ohio - that Typhoon looks like the only thing holding it together is the rust-encrusted barnacles.

EVEN THOUGH the Typhoon comes with a swimming pool and a rec center...
I choose you, Ohio class.
I trust our American submarines with their build quality and reactor design.

Ohio of course. I’m an Ohioan after all.

Ohio. Significantly lower chance of me dying.
Now I need to go watch The Hunt for the Red October for the 127th or so time.

Didn’t they get reclassified into a Los Angeles class at that point?

And radiation shielding, I think the only active typhoon left got some a while back, but all those ones just sitting waiting to be scrapped? Yeah....
Can’t go wrong with a swimming pool though!

Let’s break it down!
Typhoon - more square footage, bragging rights, but higher maintenance cost and may possibly kill you dead
Ohio - higher mileage, but better quality. Less living space, but its faster.
Also, if we are having to berth this, does usual location count? I’m not a fan of living north of the arctic circle year round, even if i am heated by all the toasty radiations.

Noooooo. Two completely different types of submarine and completely different builds. The Ohio conversions were converted from SSBNs to SSGNs. The 688s are SSNs.

I love everything about the Typhoon, but let’s be honest here - The Ohio has a better record, is quieter, and isn’t rusting in Severodvinsk docks. China and Russia still fear the Ohio. The Typhoons are being scrapped.
