Most camera sensors see infrared, and usually have physical filters applied to block it for signal quality improvements.
Infrared is 700nm to 1mm.
Sony use to have camcorders with a great night vision mode, but that lead to a lot of people figuring out ‘sheer’ clothing is mostly invisible in infrared.

Yup. You can make an IR camera by removing the IR filter from a standard point-and-shoot and replacing it with the dark part from the end of a roll of film.
