We have a bird feeder in our front window to entertain our cats. It’s a “squirrel-proof” feeder and we have a baffle at the top where it hangs from the hook to stop non-bird varmints. Neither item stops chipmunks from shimmying up the pole and jumping over to the feeder to stuff their cheeks.
Oliver is very interested in chipmunks.

Chipmunks are the only backyard scavengers that I don’t mind. They also happen to be the only animal that our dog can’t catch, so it works out well.

You do have to watch out for them burrowing a bunch of tunnels in your yard, but we live in a rental townhouse so I don’t care that much that they keep eating the bird seed. Actually the only thing that annoys me about them is they eat the seed so fast, my wife is always bugging me to refill the feeder.
My father-in-law (RIP) used to live trap chipmunks in his yard, then drive with the traps to a local park and set them loose. Never really got rid of the chipmunk problem but at least he was being nice to them.

Yea there are tunnels all over our yard. I overlook them because I’m like, “haha look at that little chipmunk.” As I roll my ankle haha.

Our cat was on the porch sunning himself the other day. When the mailman dropped off the mail, you would’ve thought he was getting shot at he ran away so quickly. Way to go cat.

My last cat (now passed away) was at least partly a breed called an American Curl and looked something like this:
And that cat was almost as good at jumping and climbing as a squirrel.
As a result, in the time I had him, he caught/killed 3 squirrels.
