This would probably warm it up pretty good.

If this is their first house I go with Its a wonderful life quote and buy wine, bread, and a good seasoning.

As someone who just bought a house and who’s friends have given us various things... mostly flowers, food, wine and that kind of stuff. All of which were greatly appreciated... especially the food, because it’s nice with all the hustle of moving and unpacking and getting the new house setup to not have to wonder what you’re going to eat. But honestly the coolest thing someone gave us was a ceiling fan... it was kind of random but I guess he overheard me saying that I wanted to get one... so he did. Granted I made him stick around and help me install it. Lol.

But I guess my point is you can’t go wrong with food, and if you overhear them griping about anything in the new place, or causally discussing ideas about things they want to do to fix it up, those are good opportunities to get ideas for gifts.

When I get fuck you rich, I want to make that but drivable. Every time I park, I’ll make sure to pick the tallest truck, park next to it, and lift myself 1 inch higher.

I know it might be considered thoughtless, but honestly the best gift is probably a gift card to a hardware store or big box retailer.

If you absolutely must get them something tangible, then something like a vacuum, bed linens, or towels would be good.

Hardware store gift card. Tell them to use it on a new lock set.

Or one of these:

Or a plant.

Is this a first time living on their own gift, or just a new house but am established living gift? Very different stages of life...

I mostly go with wall decoration, it’s easy to find something fitting for the person and it makes a room more welcoming.
You can’t go wrong with a print of a city skyline, classic car, or some nature pictures, depending on whom you give it to.
