A little sunlight dish soap and water in a spray bottle makes all of the difference.
Apply bead, spray, finger.
Not a plumber, but I’ve rod and caulked about a million feet of windows.

Let’s just hope you got the wax ring on right. I had a friend install a commode for me and he didn’t get the seal right. My god, it smelled bad in there.
