Kinja'd!!!

The cat has been stuck in the tree for a number of days. Today, like Robin Hood of yore, I used one of the kids toy bows to shoot a wood dowel arrow 30 feet over a branch with some light rope around it. We then lifted a clothes basket with food in it up to the branch. The damn cat then proceeded to climb higher up the tree.

Put a cardboard box on the ground under the tree. The cat will get in it.

I’ve read this book. When you get a raccoon up a tree, you cut the tree down.

Make sure the box is three sizes too small for the actual size of the cat.

Then the hound dogs die and all the kids in the class cry. Yeah, I read that book too.

No such thing as a cat stuck in a tree. If it got up it can and will get down. Sounds like he just wants to be left alone

 Haha

Better than food is to put in the basket pieces of clothing which have been recently worn by the member in the family the cat loves the most.

I did more or less the same as you did when our Mina refused to get down from the big avocado tree we used to have... and she started attacking the basket! Partner decided to quickly do a google search for ideas - with the results mentioned above.

Up went the basket with t-shirts and socks that were waiting to be washed.

It worked like a charm.
