My dad just put a deposit down on a 4Runner TRD Offroad Premium. He’s already replacing the SR5. He doesn’t hate it, but he wanted the KDSS and the diff locker.

I’ve been eyeing the 4runner and I would have passed on the KDSS. Not worth the extra money imo. I test drove one with and without the KDSS and didn’t notice any on road differences. Plus, it becomes a minor hindrance when you begin to modify the truck.

I feel ya. I know I am not going to use the 4wd stuff often but it significantly increases the car’s perceived utility for me and I don’t want to skimp on it. makes me feel better about buying an SUV.

Gotcha. The system is pretty cool, so he’ll appreciate it. I’ve read too many stories about needing special kits to lift, leaning to one side, and system leaks when you mod. But it should be great for a stock rig.
