Voici la voiture d’aujourd’hui.

C’est magnifique, eh? Non, malheuresement.

Haven’t seen one in many a long year. Come to think of it I haven’t seen any -05 Peugeots for some time.

Yep, this one qualifies for “a thing rarely seen”.

Occacionally see 205's, 405's and 505's, but they are rare..

Out of curiosity, I checked on how many used ones are for sale.

Ireland: nil

UK: nil (there are 49 on the road there as at the end of last year)

France: 262 on one site, at up to €2,500.

In the netherlands, 205's are still a rather frequent sight in inner cities. 405's less so, but still common enough.

Big cars like the 605 are so expensive to own that it just isn’t worth it save for special models. Bigger cars are mostly leased, so the marginal cost of stepping up to a new model car is relatively low. Especially for larger, luxurious, older cars, which tend to have high running costs.

Small city cars are more frequently bought outright, and therefore, for smaller cars, the marginal cost is relatively much higher to step up to a newer model.

(that was the short explanation with a few shortcuts for brevity).
