The chrome piece above the light is loose, too. Sigh. It wouldn’t so annoying if I didn’t live 45 minutes from the dealership.

Kinja'd!!!

At least I know it’ll be an easy fix once they get the parts in.

Had the same thing happen on our Forester; dealer had me take a photo and send it to them, they ordered the part and I dropped her off to get it replaced.

are you sure there’s actually a problem? Condensation inside taillamp housings is fairly common; they’re vented to the atmosphere.

or do you actually have water collecting inside it?

At least no spiders in the gas tank for this generation 6.

There’s no standing water but there are water droplets.

Yeah looking at the closeup that does seem excessive. Most I get in my Ranger is a light mist.

I just hope the dealer doesn’t give me crap about getting it replaced. That chrome trim piece above it is loose, too.

Time to get a LED housing? Assuming that exists for the 6.

If it was out of warranty, I would.

Before I left Mazda they sent out a TSB about water in lamps because it happens so much. Basically they want them dried out with a heat gun or allowed to evaporate and only get replaced if there’s water spots left behind on the inside of the lens...

That said our dealer never followed that, and always replaced the lamps. FUCK trying to dry that shit out. It never worked.

I just called the dealer and they said they’ll inspect it and then order the parts. The chrome trim piece above the reverse light is loose, as well. The problems may or may not be related.

The dealer can’t get me in until freaking next Tuesday, though.

I asked if I could just email them photos of it, since I have to leave work early and drive 45 miles to the dealer. Of course, the answer was no and they have to see it in person. Cue eye roll on my part.

That whole part I never got. I mean, chances are THEY have to take pictures of it to send to Mazda, why not cut out the middle man?

Then again even though I used to work at a Mazda dealer, the other dealer I took my CX-5 to wouldn’t just order warranty parts based off of my diagnosis either. Silly. But I’ve been burned so many times by techs ordering the wrong parts, customers doing the same, so it kind of makes sense. Even when its as cut and dried as a tail lamp and piece of trim.
