Some of you might remember my earlier posts about relocating to the Detroit metro area, and subsequent difficulty in finding somewhere to live. Thankfully, I finally managed to find a place in Auburn Hills, close to work, with a 2-car garage. Thank god it’s finally over.

Also, this was basically just an excuse to share this picture:

Hope everybody has a good weekend!

See it’s not so bad around here. Bonus your not far from M1 concourse and Waterford Hills road course.

How do you like that stable? Get enough seat time in the Lotus throughout the year?

nice mix of cars. Do love that green on the Lotus. You got the muscle and the nimble track / carver.

I haven’t driven the Lotus as much as I would like over the past few years, but I used to drive it quite a bit. I’m not sure how much time I’ll have with the weather up here vs. Northern Kentucky (where I was before), but I’m still planning to hang on to it for a while. It’s not nearly as fast (or comfortable) as the Shelby, but it is a ton of fun in its own way. The easiest way to describe the experience is that it’s more like driving a big go-kart than a car.

Heh, I specifically sought out this color when I bought it. It’s an ‘05, so it’s the metallic “Lotus Racing Green” instead of the regular, flat BRG. It really pops in the sun, I love it.

Haha yeah I get the big go kart thing. It sort of feels that way in my Miata, although obviously not to the same extreme. I have definitely always dreamed about obtaining a Lotus someday as my fun car.

Yep, the Shelby is the comfy cruiser that can put in some serious work when you want it to, while the Lotus is the car you take when you want a pure, unfiltered driving experience (bumps, squeaks, and all).

Only downside so far is that I’m northwest of the office, so congestion on I-75 N is pretty bad in the evening. Might end up just taking 75 in the mornings and an alternate route in the evenings.

never heard a Shelby GT350 described as a “comfy cruiser” before. Guess that’s what owning a Lotus will do to you. :)

Yeah 75 is brutal right now plus the Long lake mess doesn’t help.

Welcome to Michigan you’ll know it’s spring time when you see the construction barrels.

Congrats! As someone who is also currently house-hunting in Metro Detroit, it’s not easy to find something decent right now.

I did check out a place in Troy that had two (!) garages, one of them being a 4-car with a lift already installed, but my wife didn’t like the “small yard” and the fact that she “could hear road noise.” Oh well.

Pretty much, it’s all a matter of perspective. The Shelby is stiff, but the magneride soaks up bumps better than you’d expect for the type of car it is.

Compare that the the Lotus, which will, due to a combination of stiff springs, light weight, and short wheelbase, “hop” over small bumps, and the Shelby is a Maybach in comparison, haha.

Eh, it’s alright.

But in all seriousness, thanks. Cars are one of my very few hobbies, so I figure I might as well buy the good ones while I’m young and can afford them.

Yes the physical garage is meh, but the cars are a good balance for quick and powerful
