...were eating grass along Nova Scotia’s Highway 103 on my way home from work today at 3:30pm. (Max speed limit 100-110kph).
Hope the critters didn’t try to cross the road after I went by! Felt odd to see them in such a visible place at that time of day! I know around the house we only see them at night or dawn/dusk...

Ditch deer. The grass is good eating along the ditches, and the proximity to humanity tends to keep predator populations low. It’s super common for me to see elk across the street from my house at all times of the day. Back home there’s a small herd that is consistently somewhere along the same half-mile stretch of highway right new to town. I’ve seen them cross the road a few times, but they’re usually pretty smart about it. None of them have been hit since forever.

This is off my porch right now.
With a few out of the shot (further down the street and behind the trees) I’ve counted seven.

Yup, we similarly find them on our front yard eating grass fairly often! :) These three were outside the one end of our house right next to the house close enough I shot these close-ups looking down on them from the upstairs window.
Your neighbourhood looks pretty cool! :)
