I received word from Steve today that they released a new fix for the invisible links issue. It seems to be working for me. How about you?

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

You should see a link preview embedded above this line. I am composing this post and publishing it without saving it in the drafts folder first or going back in to edit it. I want to know if this is working on the first try, without opening the post editor back up to sort of “kick-start” it, as seems to have helped sometimes in the past.

So... is it working now?

Hm. As soon as I hit “Publish”, the link disappeared. Rats.

Nope, not there. Always gone after hitting publish.

That’s strange. Before writing this post, I typed up a totally different post and saved it as a draft. After saving, it displayed the link just fine.

But when I started this one from scratch, the embed was gone as soon as I hit the “Publish” button. If I use Chrome’s “view page source” feature, I can find the link among all the HTML gobbledygook. So it’s there, but it won’t format or even display as plain text.

Is this platform-specific? I haven’t had any major issues; however, oftentimes I’ll embed a link and it won’t show up to me when I hit Publish, but it appears when I click the article on the Oppo FP. BTW, there’s no link in your post.

Well that is just queer!

I have taken to linking sites to text in my post in addition to pasting the link, because the link often doesn’t work, like the posts I tried today.

Yeah, that’s been pretty foolproof so far.

I’m not sure what you mean by “platform”. But you made me think of something else to try...

When I composed a draft just to try the feature out, i saved it to my personal blog, and when I saved it to drafts, it worked. So I thought it was fixed. But it didn’t work for this post. So, I decided to try composing a new post, and saving it as a draft to the Oppositelock drafts folder instead. THAT one won’t display.

So, let’s see here...

Okay, links work fine when composing a draft for Plate Shack, but it’s not working on Cigar Lounge. And with that, I’ve run out of blogs to try. So it seems that Oppo and CL are Kinja’d, but not Plate Shack or my personal blog.

By platform I mean are the results different depending on which browser and which OS you are using. In the past, for example, some things worked on Chrome but not Firefox or Safari. In my experience writing aviation history posts, if I embedded links to older posts and scheduled them for the future, the links didn’t appear until the post went live. There may be a similar issue with drafts. I just don’t know.

Oh. Haha, yeah I was thinking of Kinja as a “platform”, so I was a little lost there.

My primary machine is Win10/Chrome, but I just tried it on Vista/Firefox and the results are the same. From what I’m seeing, the key variable here seems to be which blog it’s being posted to. I’m going to go ahead and send this info on to Steve. Maybe it’ll point the Kinja team in the right direction.
