I had a different, yet equally frustrating moment this morning regarding a merge lane.
On my commute to work at one point I need to turn left. There are two lanes turning left onto a two lane road. Shortly after the turn (block maybe) the two lanes merge into one. There are a couple of larger businesses on the left just passed this turn, before the merge, which many people go to, hence I stick to the right lane. This allows me to cruise past the line of cars waiting to turn in, and merge with the 2 or 3 that continue on.
This morning I do my normal routine. There is one car in front of me in the left lane and another behind me. Shortly before my lane ends, the car behind me pulls up so their front tires are even with my rear. I’m not sure what they’re plan was but they were effectively blocking me. Since my truck is significantly larger than their car, I merged anyways. No horn, but they then gave me a few car lengths of space. I presume they realized they were being a dick.

WTF? Not only treat the merge lane as if it was a junction but then use the over taking lane to drive slower than the rest of traffic.

Yep. They were doing 15 below the speed limit, and about 25 below what traffic is normally doing.
