Kinja'd!!!

A 540iT... in an actual color! With a nice tan interior, sitting on some clean style 32s. 10/10 would daily.

edit: They’re style 48s, I stand corrected. 32s have similar spokes but more of a lip. Oops.

I’m not sure that grey qualifies as “color”

It’s alactually light metallic blue. Stahlblau if I had to guess.

Such a pretty car. If I were to get rid of the truck, I’d replace it with a wagon.

Damn, looks clean, too. I’d like to do bad things with it.

They have aged really well. And this is a total sleeper, 0-60 in 5.5

Yes, yes, yes, and a 6 speed swap if needed.

Definitely a 6 speed swap. I think that’s probably an amazing deal given how cheap clean automatics are. The OEM manuals are all 5 figures and high mileage

I’m assuming that the autos have led a much gentler life the last 15+ years, too.

You know it! My first car was an ‘89 635, that’s where the madness started.

Wow, looks mint! What a survivor. E39s in good condition are a rare sight these days.

This is my mom’s 530d manuel, still looking quite good at 200k miles, but last year alone it cost upwards of 6k € to keep on the road.

Mother of God, your car pedigree. I am not worthy. I still dream of a manual e46 M3. Thats where my madness started. Then I drove my friend’s e39 528i and all bets were off. I have to have a proper BMW. Now I’m slowly saving up for the e46 M3. The BRZ didn’t suffice. Nothing will.

I have an E46 BMW, and I *still* dream of an E46 M3.

Absolutely. Preferably in the hands of an old lady with a garage.

E39 has a larger hub bore than most bmws 74mm, basically every bmw post e30 uses 72.5mm. So you either have to use spacers or have wheels machined if they weren’t originally designed for the E39. They did make M parallels for the e39 though.

Yikes. Yeah I’ve heard that E39s can be a total disaster, especially the V8s (leaky)

I had a LOT of fun in an E46 330i sedan, that might hold you over in the meantime! It was an auto and I still had a blast. Dat steering feel...

Yep, I almost posted that as a fun fact, but restrained myself. IIRC you can get hub adapters AKA little rings to make up the difference. But you probably know that :)
