More M6GC Reports - and a Question on SwapaLease

Has anyone used SwapaLease (or any similar service) to get out of a lease? I am getting to the point where I think I hate my M6GC.

Prior readers will know I think the DCT in the big BMWs is terrible. It’s a worse driver in traffic than I was a 14 learning to drive in traffic in my mother’s Celica. (Yes we learned illegally early in the country in Georgia.)

So today I took the car in for it’s annual service after driving back from LA. On the trip, not only did the SOS button cover fall off (never touched as far as I know), but the rear tow hook cover fell off (the car was never touched in the rear, and by the way that is supposed to be secured with some sort of rubber strap).

While looking at this with the service advisor, we noticed that the rear tailpipes didn’t stick out the same amount - the driver tips stuck out about 1/2" more. He looked under the car and said “Huh, looks like these are about to fall off too.” Like it was no big deal.

So did I just get a lemon, or is BMW’s build quality going to hell? This is just totally inappropriate for a car that costs $135k.

I should note that as much as I am starting to hate this car, I love my i8. It’s awesome.

Perfect description of my experience with the original SMG

Everything I’ve heard is BMW quality is going down, rapidly. They’re building for 3 year leases, if that. What you need to get to replace is it a LC500 imo.

You can post it on there but it’s up to someone legit coming along who wants to pick up the lease and has sufficiently good credit to qualify for the same terms as you.

BMW is one of the better brands for getting someone to take over your lease because when you do it, you are completely off the lease. Some other brands, you remain on the lease and if the other person doesn’t pay they come after you.

But it’s still up to someone else to come along who wants your car.

I don’t know of anyone who’s had any problems with a new BMW in the past 5 years. I shit you not. It may just be a lemon though. The fit and finish on every BMW I’ve been in recently was perfect. I know of plenty of people who’ve had problems with Audi and Mercedes, but not BMW.

This is BMW quality now, I’ve been saying this for years. They used to be an engineering company, now they’re a marketing company. They stopped building “keeper” cars over a decade ago, with very few exceptions.
