I once abandoned a Jeep in a swamp.

I also think anything over 300HP is silly for daily use.

I also have very little to no aspirations to own a manual, at least not in anything other than a 3rd or 4th car.

I like the Lincoln mark series from the 90's.

I don’t really care about driven wheels as long as the suspension is good.

I can’t imagine why this would be a secret. I lusted after the 2nd gen Probe GT for years. If a nice one existed in Ohio, I’d like to make it mine.

I don’t really subscribe to the “fun to drive a slow car fast” thing. I kind of have a rough hp minimum for fun.

The Mark 8 was the last envelope-pushing Lincoln until the 2017 Continental. The LS came so close, though, dammit.

I agree on the 300hp mark. I just like to be able to pass people in short passing zones. 200-300hp gets you there unless you’re trying to pass a jackass who accelerates. In which case you need 500+hp to really show him who’s boss. In which case you’ll soon be doing 80 in a 40. In which case you’ll soon be in a ditch wrapped around a tree. At least around here.

My secret, I guess you’d call it that... I once drove my old truck when I had been up most of the night drinking and I’m sure I wasn’t “OK to drive.” I remember doing it, and I will never forget it. I will also never repeat it. At least this was before kids, and it was literally 2 miles on back roads to my house. Still. Nope.

The LS was so close. I remember when it came out. A RWD V8 in a sea of anemic FWD cars.

But it was not meant to be.

I find drifting overrated, and it’s irritating that Chris Harris rose to his fame & position by largely burning up tires, especially because he’s gifted in so many other areas.

I like hybrids, and I’d own one if my own car weren’t paid off and mechanically sound (knock on wood). It’d have to be one that drives more like a car than a robot, like a C-Max or P1 (haha) compared to an insight, CR-Z, or most priii (I like the Prius V, no shame).

Wow, man...just....wow...

You ask for the secrets, then judge when you get them...

After driving my 5-spd Tacoma for a few weeks...sometimes it’s just nice to be cradled in the relative luxury and not constantly be reaching for gears. Plus...the smooth linear acceleration feels fairly refined.

I wouldn’t take it autocrossing...but it feels like it does fine for everyday commuting.

Edit: regarding your secrets, I loved the Mark VIII ever since I first saw it.

I still keep an eye out for a pristine LS LSE. I liked the Thunderbird and S-Type platform mates, but they were let down by that Jag engine.

I dream of finding a stupid-cheap LS in good cosmetic shape with a trashed engine and swapping in a Coyote 5.0 somehow.

My goal in life is to have a shitload of relatively normal cars.

When everyone was gushing over the P1, 918, and LaFerrari, I was too busy caring about the Veneno. I want all four one day.

My favorite supercar as a kid was the SLR McLaren, but my dream car was an Interlagos Blue E60 M5.

Young me was obsessed with regular cars. My collection of toy cars as a kid proved just that. At the time, my favorite cars were the Ford Ranger, Chevy TrailBlazer, Ford Explorer, and the BMW Z3.

I loved the PT Cruiser, New Beetle, and Mini when they came out.

Sometimes I think about replacing my E30 with a Fox body Mustang. Cheap V8 that is infinitely modifiable, kind of like the US equivalent of an E30...but I’m scared to drive one that’s not completely worked over and learn that it would be absolute garbage.

Honda brought faux hype to its vtec (right down to putting that small sticker on the sides of the car). In the sense that the “tech” was also used in other cars so it wasn’t “exclusive” or “unique only to Honda”.
