My wife texted she wants to go out for Cinco de Mayo on Friday and to see a movie on Saturday. I told her Guardians of the Galaxy 2 opens this weekend. She asked if it was Marvel. I said, “yes, it’s the one with Chris Pratt, aliens and 80s music,” and sent the trailer. She loves 80s music. Now we’re going.

If you bought them through Fandango you should be able to get them refunded. (I know this because I accidentally bought tickets for Friday then quickly realized I needed tickets for Saturday. I did an exchange, the money credited to my Fandango account, then I bought Saturday tickets.)

I did! I was going to pull a subtle con, and invite my buddy, his girlfriend and her child over to see the chickens/ducks on Saturday. Then be like yea so me and Trev should probably go see Guardians of the Galaxy so the tickets don’t go to waste...
Exchanging the tickets is probably the safer bet.
Fandango is really cool about that sort of stuff. I bought tickets to the wrong theater once, they didn’t even care. They said that the theater makes $0.00 off ticket sales...

The theater near me is all reserved seating now. The seats are comfy motorized recliners. It’s nice because you don’t need to get there super early to get a good seat. But it’s also annoying because sometimes you make a spur of the moment decision to go to a movie and all the good seats are booked, even for some random not-blockbuster movie. At least this theater chain, when you sign up for their rewards program, you can get tickets on Fandango without paying the convenience fee.

The other big theater near me is the comfy stadium seating that’s not recliners. It’s fine but I already preferred the recliner one before it was renovated to the recliners. There’s also a cheapie second run theater with $2.50 matinees that goes up to 3 whole dollars after 6 pm. Sure it’s the old ballpark style seats but hey, it’s 3 bucks.

Yea wow 3 bucks is 3 bucks. There is a “Movie Tavern” near me that also has assigned, recliners. However the food is only slightly better than a bag of popcorn soaked in that gross butter liquid, and their service staff is super weird. Cool to get a beer at a movie though.

Did she see the first one? I didn’t grow up with GotG so I had no idea what I was getting into but I enjoyed every second of it, including the soundtrack! Looking forward to Vol 2. this weekend.

She hasn’t seen it. I summed it up for her thusly:
Chris Pratt, as a kid in the 80s, was accidentally abducted by aliens, while he’s listening to a mix tape of sweet 80s music on his Walkman. The aliens then raised him, and he grows up to be a space pirate, and he keeps his Walkman. He falls in with a group of space ne’er-do-wells including a talking raccoon voiced by Bradley Cooper and a taking tree named Groot who only says, “I am Groot.” Somehow they end up being the only people who can save this planet from this bad guy. Also, Benicio Del Toro has a goofy white wig.

She works second shift, with Fridays off. I suppose she could watch it during the day on Friday or Saturday. When I suggested watching the first one on her own ahead of time, she didn’t sound very interested in it. She said she’d go watch some clips or something.

Damn idk I think you should put it on tomorrow and convince her while it’s already coming on. It’s one of those movies that just pulls you in anyway so I’m sure after like 5 minutes she’ll be into it, the first seen is Starlord with his headphones playing music so that’ll be the way to catch her.
