2.5 hours of work later the soft top is out of my car and it’s all buttoned up and put back together. That’s 60lbs of squeaky, rattly bullshit gone from my car. It’s glorious.

Eh, NB2 Bose system is good enough I have no wish to spend money improving it.

Fair. Any plans for the extra space, or just weight savings? Between that and removing the unnecessary parcel shelf trim you’d basically have another trunks worth of space.

I can fit luggage back there and the wind blocker/seatbelt tower brace keeps it from sliding forward. It’s great :D I’d honestly like to get another set of factory door speakers and a carbonmiata fiberglass package shelf with speaker holes and put them back there with the bose amps and such just for a slightly fuller sound. Very low on the priority list. I need some hardtop brackets and I need to sell this soft top now.

You’ve already got the headrest speakers right? I’ve been thinking about that kit too, or something like the setup below. Might have to modify for the rollbar tho...

If you don’t do any dumb things soon, I might have to

No, the bose cars don’t have headrest speakers. That modified windbreaker is pretty cool though...

Does the windbreaker actually make a decent difference? Interested more for volume levels

Poor word choice on my partt. I have no wish to upgrade the bose speakers, but if I wanted to “improve” the sound I’d make it come from more points than just the doors by tossing another identical set of speakers in the package shelf, a popular place for a second set of speakers.

A “bosectomy” to replace the factory speakers with anything else requires running all new wires and finding oddball speaker sizes or getting adapters. It’s an incredibly annoying process and the speakers in there are perfectly adequate for a car.

For blocking wind? I never noticed a difference. Supposedly it acts as a seatbelt tower brace, though. Mine has no speakers in it.

Just giving you a hard time!

Had a similar thing on the Blows sound system on my Z06, all the amps were integrated at the source. Had to rewire the whole thing, and build adapters and ‘glass boxes to get normal speakers in there.

Yeah, personally I like my bose. Despite just having two door speakers and two tweeters it manages to not completely distort the mids when the (fairly significant) bass kicks in. It’s not an accurate frequency response but it’s a fun one and when I’m driving in my car I just want my sound system to entertain me and drown out the road noise.

Agreed, same with the Abarth. Cabrios are different. The Z was a very small, very weirdly shaped enclosed cabin. I went through a lot of configurations to find one that wasn’t just off. But that was my hobby at the time, so it was fine.
