Kinja'd!!!

So, Project Thanks Obama . It’s getting a replacement exhaust and rear main in the next two weeks. Me being me, however, I’m inclined to get something else.

I’m considering putting it up on CL barter just to see what trades I get offered. I’d like something along the same lines - 4- or all- or rear- wheel-drive, manual transmission, not economy minded. I’m thinking something like 3rd-4th Gen F-body, NA or NB (yeah right) Miata, YJ or TJ (yeah right), maybe even a Mustang. What I think I’ll get offered:

Honda Civic (VTAK ain’t economy BREH , I know what I have DUDER )
Ratted out Cherokee
4-Banger Toyota pickup/4Runner
Three ounces of super-chronic and like, two grams of wax (they’ll go to three grams but they really don’t want to
~77 Chevy half-ton what’s been sitting for a few but has a four-on-the-floor and the original 305 what were working last time it cranked but not too keen on when that was again

What do y’all think? What would be good trades for a 22 year old pickup with the normal Mopar issues? What would you trade for this wonderful piece of engineering? What’s the weirdest, yet most plausible, item I’d get offered here in Denver?

You are lucky it’s a truck, and I would get an f body duh. Get a late 80s 3rd gen or a cheapie lt1 90s bird and get more for your money.

I already have a 2017 Ram 1500, two trucks is overkill

NONSENSE. Build this thing up into a fun truck that can haul ass in addition to anything else you need. Or go full offroader on it.

If you get offered about any 4Runner in reasonable shape that’d be a solid deal. Assuming it’s not rusted too bad, in which case it could be more of a swiss-cheese deal. I may be biased though. Okay, I am pretty biased.

Just get it running. Once you start rowing gears and hearing the V8, you won’t be bored.

Take a 22-re over a 3vz-e, trust me. The 3vz-e gets you maybe 10 or 20 more horse in return for worse fuel economy, worse reliability and worse modifiability compared with the 22-re. It’s a boat anchor of an engine. From what I’ve read a few bolt ons will bring the 22-re up to 3vz-e power and it’ll still be a lot more reliable and efficient. Not to mention easier to work on, the 3vz-e makes for a pretty crowded engine bay on the first or second gen.

Oh haha. Jealous on the 22R-TE

I badly want to do a 3.4 swap, although all things considered the 3.slow really still runs alright for 205k. If I keep the 4Runner long term as an adventure-mobile, which looks very likely, I’ll bite the bullet next time the 3.0 needs significant work.

Yeah had an 87 SR-5 pickup, 2wd, with the TE and an LSD. Still miss that trucklet
