While looking fervently for a C30 Polestar 6 MT I came across this 2015 3 sport hatch. The color is exactly what I was looking for, 6 speed, 2.0L so better mileage, cloth interior, and some sort of cool wheels added.
They low balled me on my 1 series for trade in, but after I got it detailed and put summer tires on it they gave me $1200 more for it and took $800 off the sticker price of the car. I’ve had nothing but good experiences with my local Mazda dealer, especially the sales guy Chuck. Anyone in the western NY area looking for a Mazda should hit me up for his contact info.
Brought it home Saturday to meet the rest of the gang. (Miatii not pictured) Anyone know what the wheels on it are off of? They are plasti-dipped the current color. I’m thinking of stripping them and going black with either good enamel or dip. I’m bout 400 miles into ownership (just kicked the included full tank of premium) and couldn’t be happier with my purchase.

Great acquisition, but it’s that RX-7 that really has me drooling. Don’t see enough of them on the road anymore.

It’s a solid well used one from Georgia. I’m working through some bugs on it right now. Updating the ignition to dual leading ignition direct fire, with HEI igniters. After that I need to change the fuel filter and swap on a rebuilt carb. Then it should be golden. Oh and new rubber.

Awesome! Thanks for letting me know! I knew they were wider than the car called for because it looks almost stretched with the factory cheap tires it came with. Now I can look up the wheel weight and what size tires I should put on it when the time comes.

NP. They came on base model automatic RX-8s in 2004-2006, and are 16X7.5 and super light. They’re SUPPOSED to run a 225 tire, I had some 215/55's lying around so I threw them on there, and even those are a bit stretched.

Those look sharp on your car! I tried to find a nice 2.3S but around here they are all BEAT. Can’t wait to get some low and sticky tires on this thing. It might be next summer though.

Yay, another 3 owner on Oppo! I was actually looking to run the RX8 wheels on my 3 for lightness but ended up with second gen 3 wheels because I couldn’t pass up the deal ($125 for all 4 wheels!).
Also, much want for that RX7.

Nice! I test drove a 3 2.0 with the automatic and it handled like nothing I’ve ever driven. The tach was a little small for my liking, but I would have ended up just doing something to make it louder so I could hear where it’s at. I’ve been eyeballing manual cars to buy and these keep on showing up in my searches; they’re quite an intriguing option.

I’m going to be adding more loud too. I can barely tell it is idling sometimes. Corksport has an exhaust for it. I might check racing beat too.

I have a set of Gen 1 or gen 2 3 wheels for my winter tires already. I’ll have to post up when I get around to painting them.
The RX is a great looking car, just needs some TLC. Even then it’s fun to drive.

I managed to kill two of my stock 1st gen wheels by running over something large and metallic on the highway. Luckily it wasn’t long before winter which I have a set of steelies for.
I was quite lucky to find the second gen wheels just before Spring though. There’s a first gen RX7 that’s been sitting on CL for $3500 taunting me for a while. I want it.

Pro-tip: don’t drive in Chicago when you need a steering rack replacement.

I’ll sell you my RX for less! I’ve been in talks with another commentor on here about it, but if he doesn’t want it, I’m looking to move it before the end of the driving season.
I’ve been pretty fortunate not to blow any rims on my vehicles yet. *knocks on all the wood* I like 3 hatches, even the gen 2 speed 3, as derpy as it looks.

I’d have to convince the lady of the house, she likes the looks of the first gen and the FD but we’ve got some major expenses coming up later this year. I’m certainly interested!
3 hatches are the best! I’d really love to own a new one, but we bought a house instead. Trade-offs and what not.
