This rusty old beautifully patina’d Chevelle next to me a light on my commute was running verrrry rich. It also sounded amazing. Always great to see a survivor in the morning rush.

in all seriousness, I love that patina. put some clear on that thing and leave it be. The best old cars are old cars that are actually driven.

The rust where the rear quarters meet the bumper was actually pretty bad. If it were me I would sand and Bondo that before clearcoating, but the stripped paint on the trunk and roof is pretty cool.

There’s patina on the body, but the rear bumper looks re-chromed, and the wheels and tires look restored/new. Maybe a rolling resto project?

Hard to say from how briefly I saw it, but that was a thought I had too. That definitely isn’t the original chrome on the wheels and bumper. So maybe it is mid-restoration but running so he drives it. The chrome trim around the wheel arches and windows was pretty beat up though so maybe it was re-chromed at one point like 5-10 years ago and that’s as far as it got. Either way it’s awesome that it’s out driving. Guy was in a uniform clearly headed to work.

When I drive my Chevelle to work, people in the building can either hear me coming in (not likely since I don’t see reason to blast around a parking lot) or smell it on me when I walk in. Either way, somehow people will sometimes ask “Drive the Chevelle today?” without having been able to see me coming in...
