If you had have bought it yesterday, you would have set a pattern. Themanwiththesauce bought his 4/30/2015 and I bought mine 4/30/16. Congrats, don’t ride in a tuned one!

Ah, but 2016 was a leap year therefore the trend is still a FiST purchase every 366 days.

It would seem that way, even the mods are buying them. LOL.

Never seen that username before. Must be a new guy. Reminds me of someone that used to post here roughly 10,000 years ago by the name of-...gamedog? playleopard? funlion? Bah, can’t remember. Sure do miss him, though...

I heard rumors of such a commenter. I believe he had a run in with a console from the future which had gained sentience and traveled back in time. XBoxX or some such...

Don’t mention the 3 door to the U.S. OPPO patrons, it’s a saw point for some.

In fairness, I live in Canada 2/3 of the time and the US 1/3, so I should’ve known. I’m just not very aware of or interested in anything made after 1998 that’s not a (GM) Saab.

Zombie thread kinda? While I’ve since sold mine, I can say the best mods I did were the wavetrac diff and pedal spacer . I had lightweight wheels for about a month before a bit before I sold it and could tell a difference, but diff and pedal spacer were fantastic for me.

The car does fantastic on the track, you really don’t need anything for fluids. Depending on how you brake, you may want to come up with some brake ducts. For the transmission, I thought the ravenol mtf-2 was damn near religious for feel. For brake fluid, I used Amsoil Dot 4 . Engine oil was simple, I use Renewable Lubricants . While I sold the car after 9000 miles, I took oil samples for UOA + ISO particle count (not cheap) every 500 miles. I was always trending down with wear, even during track days. I used Amsoil oil filters.

Congrats on the car, I miss mine to the day. I’m too fucking tall to fit in it with twins, otherwise I never would’ve gotten rid of it for a daily. Drive safe, take a BMWCCA intro class to learn how the car rotates, especially in sport mode or with traction control off. The class is cheap and all BMW guys dig the shit out of that car (ironic that they love the ford so much).

I’m eyeing the Mountune rear motor mount for mod #1, it looks like it’s hard to go wrong there. I honestly had no idea about the pedal spacer, or even noticed that the pedals weren’t aligned, but I would bet now that I know, I will always notice. =\

Did you swap out transmission fluid as soon as you took the car in?

My 6 year old fits pretty well in her front facing full car seat (she’s just about to graduate to a combo/booster seat). But I DD’ed a ‘00 New Beetle with her when she was rear facing, so I know all about trying to get kids into compact/sub-compact cars. =) (I have a 6 year old who just graduated from kindergarten and an 18 year old who just graduated from high school, so I don’t have to worry about two car seats together).

Thanks for the tips and well wishes, with regard to the diff, do you know how the Wavetrac stacks up against the quaife helical LSD?

It’s a stupidly fun car and it brings a smile to my face every time I drive it.

What did you end up getting to replace it?

Zombie reply! I never went with the rear mount, although that may have been nice. I like the cp-e the best out of what I’ve seen. I swapped all fluids immediately. I use some lab beakers, Erlenmeyer flasks actually to measure out the fluid precisely. I changed fluids pretty frequently experiementing with some different stuff. I used 5w40 RLI oil, never put in a catch can or aos, but should’ve. The wavetrac will depend less on the torque vectoring braking when on low friction surfaces, otherwise I think they’re close. Wavetrac is here in the US and think it’s a bit stronger from what I remember hearing a long time ago. I replaced that guy with a new WRX. Fun car, but the Fiesta ST was more complete from the factory. Just not big enough.
