I remember watching this a few years ago on YouTube, when someone had it uploaded in like 5 parts or so. Nice to see it in one long vid. Anyway, great story, heartbreaking ending.

The first time I watched that story I had no idea what the outcome was. I just clicked on it, and got tied up with the engineering and logistics of the project.

I think I cried with them when it burned.

Yep - two thoughts

1. Never ever start a job and not complete the fasteners. And if you are interrupted and can’t complete it, leave it in a way that it is obvious to everybody that it is incomplete. Example, doing 70 mph down the highway is not the time to wonder if you finished tightening your trailer hitch.....

2. A best example of the stoic nature of guys is at the end. They watched. They just didn’t yell or kick, they just said I guess we are done. I guess 3 years wasted. Kind of like racing.

Be it a reminder people, Don’t half assemble stuff and then look for the nuts and bolts to hold it down. 3 minute mistake and plane is lost.
