Man, I am so focused, I’m like that guy from Limitless the movie not the TV show but I’m pretty sure I’m gonna get a lot done today but first I need to finish organizing the garage and then go for a jog and maybe wax the car before the mob figures out I have this stuff in my garage because I bought two cases when Amazon had a price mistake and they were 30 cents a bottle instead of $3. KTHXBYE.

Caffeine is a hell of a drug.

Nice! Also, why are you bulldozing O’Hare at midnight? And, do you need assistance? I’m local.

I jumped off the preworkout bandwagon for two reasons:

I like to get my caffeine in the morning to wake me up. I work out at night and a giant pile of caffeine at night before a workout was driving me batty and wasn’t making my workouts any better.

They had a bunch of other random-ass ingredients that probably don’t do anything.

I now have a couple of cups of coffee in the morning, and that’s it. I take creatine HCl and beta-alanine before I go to the gym.

I never even knew it was even a bandwagon until recently and honestly, it’s the biggest snake oil sale I’ve seen in a long time. After trying almost every supplement in the 90s and 00s, I whittled it down to just creatine (safe and well proven), protein powder (food), and ZMA (vitamins). The only reason I’m trying this stuff out is the Amazon price mistake — it’s the MetRX one, so not just a no-name, which made me feel a little better. Basically just the same as a couple cups of coffee, plus some aminos and a few low-dose things to add to the placebo effect :D Sort of like Gatorade, plus caffeine, with fewer calories. But the initial jolt is interesting.

It depends on how much preworkout you take. One of my buddies was getting into lifting weights. We gave him some preworkout in a water bottle before we all started working out, and he took my bottle by accident. I was taking a pretty high dose back then. The next day we asked if he wanted to come lift again, and we had preworkout if he wanted to try it again. He said fuck no that shit is worse than cocaine. lol

Preworkout is great for studying, weight lifting, hangovers, being very sleepy, and driving.

Yeah, I could see it being great on road trips. Doesn’t give me the runs like coffee, but far less calories (and weird chemicals) than energy drinks.

My PW is Creatine, Dextrose, BCAAs, and Arginine. Has worked great for a long time.

The stim based stuff has given “focus” but no power. Not good enough for me.

It is great for that. Although with the new preworkouts I have to mix it with gatorade to keep me from cramping up. The old ones I never had that problem though, so it must be these new formulas.

I also eat a protein bar and a banana before I work out but I count that as food. ;)

I used to take a combo arginine/citrulline but didn’t really feel any benefit aside from retaining my pumped-up veins for longer after a workout. They seem to pump themselves up fine on their own during a workout so I figured I’d rather not mess with them the rest of the time.

I never use any of the extra strong stuff, just C4. One scoop was good for the first month maybe. Then I took 2 weeks off, then upped the dose. One scoop in a water bottle, one straight in my mouth. Actually just finished off my last can of preworkout right now. Any other brands you’d recommend

I have been using ESP. I am a long time pre-workout user. I was on the 1MR original formula for a long time until I started using NOXplode 2.0. I stopped using pre-workout for a while, and then tried a bunch of others until I found ESP. It is a lot like NOXplode 2.0, and doesn’t have a crash. It is a gentle down. I take it mainly to get my butt in gear for my warmup, and I like it out of my system by the time I am lifting heavy. I also never do cardio with pre-workout. Try the ESP pre-workout. Only take the small scoop though. The big scoop will keep you up all night if you aren’t used to it. Also I lift mainly for to maintain and strength. Other people I know like it for cutting and to increase the max weight/reps, and it works well for them.

I’ll check that out, thanks! I like c4 because I can get it at Costco. It also never really makes me crash. I usually lift at around 5am before I start my day, so not crashing is very important for me. Weird question, but does ESP make you “tingle”? I always kinda liked that about c4, it just makes me want to workout.

Oh yes it gives you the tingles. It similiar to the way NOXplode 2.0 gave you the tingles but ends like 1MR. There’s no crash. I never really liked the C4, and my friends gave me a bunch of it when it was banned by the military. ESP isn’t bad on price, and you can get it from Amazon.

Thanks a lot, probably gonna take 2 weeks off preworkout then order a jug of ESP.

No problem! But start out with a small scoop! Do not take a large scoop to start out with.

Nothing really. I drink a bunch of water at the gym, so I have to go to the bathroom after the gym a few times. I tend to drink more when I take it.

You’ll be good then! :) I just had a crazy upper body workout that was finished it with deep squats, and I still had some energy left. Drink water and start with a small scoop.
