I saw one pulled over with a flat tire yesterday and thought this can’t possibly be a thing, can it? Then I googled, and apparently this is thing many people have done.

Burn all of them, even stock Slingshots.
Burn all Slingshots.

This is for when the wife wants an Escalade, but you want a motorcycle. Spoiler: You ’ re still sleeping on the couch.
Also: 770 area code. Somehow I knew this had to be either Atlanta or Houston.

The lady sitting in the passenger seat of the one I saw looked maadddddd while the man driving was staring at the tire. Assuming she was the SO he is definitely sleeping on the couch.

To me it’s kinda like stanced cars with excessive camber... it looks kinda cool, but it ruins the dynamics of the vehicle.

I think it’s that the Slingshots are ugly enough that the addition of huge, low-pro rolling stock doesn’t make them look measurably worse.

“Yes, I’d like some wheels... these ones please.”
“Excellent... let’s see, that’s $X,XXX times four-
“No, times three. I only need three of them.”
“Are you sure?”
Slingshot.

I guess it’s not that surprising, when people have been putting 20s or bigger on four wheels for a long time.

The same reason people put 32" wheels on cars, straight pipes on cruisers, and LED light bars on their trucks.

The only reason it isn’t the 909 is that the cars have to be marginally practical at some level so they can pull 100+ mile daily commutes in them.

so many of these in Houston. All with more lights than a deep sea research vessel, giant ugly cheapo wheels and almost all blasting music very loud

I guess so. Adding show to already showy vehicles really makes me scratch my head though. I mean, I kinda get custom trucks - there are millions of nearly identical F150's out there so I can see why someone would want to add some flash. But a stock Slingshot already screams “look at me!” It reminds me of a Mansory Lamborghini. Isn’t a Lambo already kind of the peak of showing off. I guess I’m just old.

I’m still in shock. The ones around my area of Ohio are on stock wheels. Can’t imagine why somebody around here hasn’t done that. I hate the look but we have a lot of donks in the area . I’m sure its just not a thing yet in this region.

I’m in Ohio and saw one that looked like the wheels were way bigger than normal. I don’t think they were 24" though.

Its a bizarre trend. I’d think that it would raise the center of gravity and ride rougher.

I’d think the same. I wonder how they even ride on normal wheels and tires. Three wheels must be loads of fun on anything with potholes and jagged expansion joints.
I remember Leno talking about driving his Morgan and saying “There’s no straddling a pothole. You decide whether you want jolted to the side or bounced from behind.”
