A coworker texted me this photo of an X-Type that she saw. She’s a good coworker and she should feel good.
Enhance
If I were giving them the benefit of the doubt, I’d say that they wrote 104,000, realized it looked like 154,000 and rewrote it. But I don’t believe that there’s a single X-Type in existence with just 104,000 miles on it, so obviously the only way to read this is:
104,000 miles

104,000 miles
[=208,000 miles]

Also, how can the letters be so sloppy, but the number be so elegant?

154,000 mikes
104,000 miles
That’s roughly 1.48 mikes/mile. Pretty good for this era.

It could be true. I mean if anything I find a low mileage one more believable than a high mileage one.
And hey the Queen’s only had 7,600 miles on it when she sold it last year:

At first I was thinking maybe it has 154,000 in the chassis and only 104,000 on the engine.

That’s a good point I mean yeah they’re 15 years old now, but how much of that time did the owners spend in a dealer loaner, or rental car.

I think that’s actually an E — compare it to the second E. But they clearly forgot the C.

Not that much, as these were basically the Jaguar version of a Ford Mondeo. The V6 engines in these are a Mazda GY, even down to the VVT system. The Ford Mondeo came with these as well, but Ford brands them “Duratec”. The Jaguar variant gets even better machined/forged internals than either of these.
In reality, the X-type with a V6 will run almost forever with reasonable care. I’ve seen good running examples with well over 200k miles.

Looking again it appears you are correct. Still....they get a D-minus in spelling.

It’s not the engines that plague them, every one I’ve seems had had various small electrical gremlins, and the interiors tend to fall apart. I don’t doubt the engine tho
