Kinja'd!!!

I could have fit way more but that really would have sunk the rear of the car down. But I’ve actually been having fun doing this stuff with the passat. I’ve been going to lowes and home depot and getting way more stuff in my car that all the people with these little crossovers that are supposedly more practical than a sedan

I f the back is sagging too much, just put some in the passenger footwell to balance things out.

I’m mere inches away from being able to fit 4'x8' sheet goods in the trunk of the Galaxie *with the lid closed*, but the opening into the back seat is too narrow. It’s a big opening, just not quite 4' wide. I could fit a whole wall’s worth of 8' 2x4s, though.

I’ve put about 700 pounds in the trunk of my Lincoln, but that has air ride from the factory. Levelled right out when I started the car up....

I’ve had over 1000# of concrete in a B5 Passat sedan — to be fair, only about half was in the trunk, the rest was in the floorboards of the passenger seats to help even out the load. The rear was still basically riding on the bumpstops, though, since the car was already lowered.

I once saw a Cabriolet driving down the freeway with an ATV stuffed in the backseat, the front wheels hanging out the back of the car. I’d post the picture I took, but I’ve somehow lost the ability to post pictures in comments.

That’s not too bad. About the same as two adults in the back seat. Call me when you can load 25+ bags of mulch, then I’d be impressed.

I pulled my Dakota out from its winter slumber two weekends ago and put it right to work. Two trips to lowes and a trip to sams mulch and soil. I love having a truck. I too laugh at the SUV/CUV contingent at the home improvement stores. It’s so nice to have a pickup bed to throw stuff into, and not have to worry about putting out plastic or the like.

That’s how a buddy of mine blew out the rear suspension in his Prius, but that’s what gets for driving a Prius. Although hat was closer to 800 pounds and it was ceramic tile

I’ve started to refer to my B5.5 as “The Work Truck”. Passats really are great cars.

I enjoy doing this sort of thing as well! The stares I get from people in trucks as I load up in the Lowe’s parking lot always make me laugh.

Last weekend I had 25 bags of peapebbles in the car but I tried to even it out as well by filling it from the trunk through to the floors

If I had a ‘63 wagon, I would be able to get 8' sheets inside and 10' sheets over the gate, but alas - that is not happening. Sedans just weren’t meant for that.

Harbor Freight has a trailer that folds in half and rolls on casters for storage. Don’t know if that helps you at all but I thought I would throw it out there.

Yeah I’ve looked at that one a hand full of times. I like it but that still takes up alot of the realestate in my storage room under the steps
