My wife’s uncle sort of abandoned this poor car trailer under the trees at my in-laws’ place after he sold his RV. He gave me the option helping him fix it up so he could sell it, or “you can just have it if you want it”. Well, twist my arm!
The jack had been ripped off, the wiring harness needs a bit of attention, and it was filthy. I already addressed the jack, and today I cleaned the heck out of it. I love my pressure washer!

Why can’t I have a neighbor/friend/family member who wants to give me a car hauler? You’re the third person I’ve heard of getting a car hauler/flat bed trailer just because someone didn’t want it anymore. Hell, my cousin got a heavy duty equipment trailer for free cause his dad’s neighbor didn’t like how it towed. Nice price though!

I wish the trailer I just inherited were a flatbed. Mine has tall side rails welded on. It was intended for the lawn tractor, but the belly mower for the new tractor (which I also inherited) is wider than the rails. I had to yank the belly mower off the tractor just to get everything loaded.
I figure that I need to buy an angle-grinder to remove the side rails, then buy a welder to attach some new pockets for a set of removable side rails. Honey, where’s the checkbook?

I kept telling my wife I wanted it every time I would drive past it rotting under the trees. I’m pretty sure this was the only way she was ever going to allow me to acquire it!

That sounds like a pain! Make sure the rails aren’t structural before you cut them off, though.

Aw, dang. I didn’t think about that. I’ll have to take a closer look. I’m not sure how the frame is assembled. If I recall, it has two main frame rails, but I don’t know how the perimeter floor support is attached. :/

That was an issue for me. Luckily, I have a coworker with an acreage who is building a Ranger for tough truck. He needed a trailer, I needed somewhere to store a trailer- bingo!

I’m contemplating removable sides so I can load it with dirt when the need arises. The lawn tractor came with a box blade, a tiller and a spreader. My mom was looking forward to tilling up a most of her lawn (1/2 an acre) and reseeding it with Bermuda. She also wanted to till up a proper garden.
Now that all of the equipment is mine, I will have to put it to good use. The first project is reconfiguring my gates so I can drive the tractor through. Then I have a couple of low spots to fill, then my wife is looking at improving our garden space, and then .....
