Kinja'd!!!

Offroad and/or adventure-oriented builds of performance cars have exploded in popularity the last few years. Not saying no one did them before, but nowadays if you were to throw a dart blindfolded you’d be liable to hit an enthusiast who has at least considered throwing some a/t tires and a lift kit on.

I’ve already got a healthy start with my duel purpose Miata, but this would certainly do nicely....

Wouldn’t mind building a one man overlanding Lotus or Cayman either. What say you Oppo? Are you for or against this trend? Have you thought about doing it yourself? What would you like to use as a base car?

I like it, just so long as it doesn’t morph into a trend of building unsafe, barely functional cars for the flat brim/vape crowd.

I’ve got a couple pictures of his car saved, I’m not sure if I like the wench or tire rack more. if I had a covered area to park in oh man I’d have a Craigslist special so quick....

People have been doing this with Imprezas for decades. The difference is the Subies actually got taken off road.

Most of the builds I’ve been seeing have definitely been taken off road. Hell, just the other day I was in the mountains with a lifted Brz, packed full with 5 days worth of camping gear. Admittedly I may have chosen bad pictures as the above images look more like show cars...

The guys I’m seeing do these are more like the experienced track rats, shop employees, and not-a-car-guy-yet-adventurer crowd, and less of the “community college kid who’s looking to bring something new to the midnight stance meet” crowd

Classic. That said I really hate that style of rally lights where they use bulky pods... Bleh

That’s a fair criticism of the lights. But just a slightly raised 911 with some sidewall on the tires, is excellent.

I assume you mean by lifting your car to the point where you can run over and immobilize Hella Flush cars, thus keeping the roads safer for all

That blue Z is local to me, i see it all the time. I did this with my Audi 4000 years ago, bumped up the ride height and put on LT tires. That car had vacuum locking diffs so it was really capable off road. I dig the concept as long as the car gets used as such. That Celica is badass!!

Theres a dude where I live that has All Terrain TAs, a roof basket, and a lift on a 95ish Chevy Caprice Wagon. Not all heroes wear capes.
