The exhaust on my old Focus is in a sad state... the Pipe after the main muffler broke... so I did the classic beer can exhaust repair.
I plan on doing a full cat-back exhaust replacement soon... so clearly this is just temporary.

Growing up in Texas. I honestly though new cars didn’t rust. This clearly proves that wrong.

You rarely see first gen Focus here in Manitoba Canada, If you do 90% of them have no rocker panels left.
They were very poorly built cars.

Just did mine on Thursday.
Enough of this exhaust replacement, it’s almost as bad as brakes. Tired of it.
Replacement soon...6-12 months(?). Full stainless this time (Shout out to McMike).

I know what you mean. I grew up in Houston and have lived in California and Oregon since then. I went to Chicago last month and was shocked at the rust on mid to late 2000's cars. a good 6 inches, all the way around, of the bottom would be rust. Meanwhile I have a 45 year old car with 0 rust issues. I did do a shitty paint job I did in a barn, with tractor paint twenty years ago, that was sprayed over the original paint.

Same! I didn’t really understand until I visited my girlfriend’s parents in new hampshire. I thought it was all lies.

I did this on an F150 with a soup can a few years ago. Good repair, held up surprisingly well.

I have one and can confirm they are UNBELIEVABLY poorly built. It is the only vehicle I’ve ever taken a wrench to where I wish I never did.
