My dad shut the hole in the floor today while I was at work, since I still haven’t learned how to use a welder.

I had treated the floor with rust converter on sunday. Now that the new floor pan is in, I painted everything that’s gonna be hidden by carpet.

You certainly didn’t waste any time. The edge of the hole you cut out does still look somewhat crunchy on the door side though.

No structural damage, since it has a chassis, but the journey would have been terrible

The roof is ok actually, the sides have a bit of surface rust, but the middle seems ok under the sound deadening

Hey, you are using an actual floorpan, nice. Back in the 90s my dad had a low mileage 60 Ford that had sat outside and developed a Flintstone floor (as I call it) on the driver’s side. Due to the unavailability of parts, he fashioned a piece of sheetmetal himself, and rather than weld it, actually used fiberglass to install it, maybe hoping for a later day when he could get a floorpan. It was water tight and never had an issue, but he sold the car before any real repairs could be made.

Around September, saw the 4 door on Ebay, was bored, put a bid on it thinking I wouldn’t get it, and accidentally bought it. Thought it would be a quick flip, was wrong. I did a full engine overhaul with bigger bore, new ignition and cooling system, did the carpeting, have to do the brake lines and the suspension bits still.

A 1960 Impala convertible has popped up for sale (finned, not winged, my bad), needs a full restoration. It is sold by a guy whom I bought a few parts from, at the time, he didn’t want to sell most things because he didn’t know if he might need it for the Impala, which was quite infuriating especially since it was 2 hours away and I had just spent 2 hours digging through his stuff which he didn’t exactly know what was what.
I’ll bring a rope so you can pull me up the hills :)

Thanks, the finger is alright again.

I have yet to paint the underside. The rust converter is some white liquid, applying it on surface rust gets you a black surface. I used that red paint because it’s really resistant and sticks on everything. We used it on rusty beams and it holds strong even after years
