Kinja'd!!!

My wife’s out of town and it’s my off night from the gym. Time to drink beer and cook a giant pile of food! I made non-specific Asian noodles with beef short ribs, oyster mushrooms, Chinese broccoli, and Thai red chilies. I used 10 little chilies out of the super cheap package from the Asian market. That was plenty.

Rather than some fancy super composed plated-up picture of what I ate, here’s the whole wok full of all the noodles I still have left even after stuffing myself. I made a lot of damn food.

The Thai chilies are so good because with just a little bit of them, you get a nice heat where you notice it, but it doesn’t blow you away with overwhelming spiciness. There’s a distinct chili flavor separate from straight up heat, and you can still taste the other flavors in the dish, which in this case include oyster sauce, garlic, ginger, scallions, sesame oil, and Shaoxing cooking wine. You can see a few of the chilies in there, but I had them mixed in with my stir fry sauce with all that other stuff so the wok heat gave them a nice chance to spread their flavor throughout the whole thing.

Oh, and I’m working on La Fin Du Monde #3 out of 4 in the 4-pack.

That’s some goddamn good beer if I say so myself.

I have a giant papaya and pineapple that in theory I was going to cut up for dessert but after a couple bowls of those noodles and the beer, I have no room left.

Actually the best part of this is that I don’t have to immediately clean up after myself. Got the food in the fridge, got the pots and pans soaking with soapy water, and I’m chilling watching basketball with the cats. Cleaning can happen tomorrow.

Back to the gym tomorrow!

That whole package was $1.74 at the super dope Asian grocery owned by the same family as my favorite pho joint .

Technically I posted this before you posted about your beer and then linked to it in your post about your beer. So...yeah.

So how did I do? I saw the $1.74 and it was right on top and thought it looked familiar. I even managed to pay the exact price per pound.
