Had to kill a black widow Wednesday morning that had decided hanging out next to my dishwasher was a good idea.
Working in a junkyard as a teenager

decades ago, needed to pull a wiper motor from a 944. Drove out to the car (big yard), pulled the cowl screen, and found an obscenely large black widow living in the cowl tray. Drowned it with WD40 and starting fluid, lit it on fire with a Bernzomatic, pulled a wiper motor from a different 944, and deleted the original wiper motor from inventory (considered deleting the entire car).

I was sitting at a light this morning and saw a moderately sized spider climb right down the middle of my steering wheel. I finally found something to crush it with (it was big enough I didn’t want to use my fingers), I look up and the light’s changing back to red and the cars in front of me are gone. Luckily the turn arrow stayed lit and there was nobody behind me, but I’m about to get on the highway and the damn thing climbed to the back of the wheel. Caught another glimpse or two of it as I’m merging onto the highway, couldn’t get it. Then I check my speed, and there’s the moderately sized yellow spider climbing across my gauges (kind of weird seeing it “hovering” like 3 inches above because of the plastic). Missed it that time too. Then a few miles further down the road, and there it is climbing across the top of my windshield, just inches from my face. Missed it again. I didn’t see it the rest of the commute, and hopefully the sun baking the car’ll cook it so I don’t see it on the way home.

I just use the cup method. I always had frogs/toads growing up, so I’d catch spiders via the cup method and feed em to whatever was in the aquarium that week.

Why does everyone freak out about spiders. 99.99%* of spiders are completely harmless and of the ones that are not, the likely hood of them doing anything to you greatly depends on what you do to them. Simply scoop up and relocate outside, no biggie.
Secondly, Spiders eat mosquitoes. Let me repeat, spiders EAT MOSQUITOES. That is an insect/spider to hate and be afraid of. They pose a much greater risk to you than spiders.

Spiders may crawl on you, but you are just substrate for them. They will only bite as a defence mechanism, they don’t want to eat you. The same can not be said for Skeeters.
