Kinja'd!!!

From the CBC:

“The Toronto Transit Commission is grounding its entire fleet of articulated buses after maintenance staff experienced a “full throttle,” or unexpected acceleration, during routine maintenance Thursday afternoon.”

Did they check the floormats? Although apparently it can be dealt with through a software fix.

Unpredictable bouts of full throttle with little regard for safety is pretty much the bus driver motto.

Those things look so awful to drive. I’m always impressed when I see a driver who really knows what they’re doing with them.

The real fun is riding in one in the snow and having the rear slip sideways while the front stays on course.

I’ve yet to ride in one in snow, but I’ve spent lots of time behind them trying and failing to get up snowy hills

Weird... I’ve never once had a TTC bus accelerate when I didn’t want it to.

:)

On another TTC bus related note, WHY the hell aren’t they all pure electric yet? None of this stupid hybrid crap that’s constantly going wrong. A bus is the perfect electric vehicle. Drive around the city for an hour or so, wait at the station. Repeat. I know at Kipling station they sit for at least 10-15 minutes... with the amount of batteries a bus could carry that’s more than enough for quick-charging. Or battery swaps... which personally I think would be ideal.

And a bonus, because of Ontario’s “Yeild to the bus” law, all the carnage they may has caused with this issue would be the fault of the guy who got hit!

I just wanna burn the MTO to the ground. It’s a shitshow.
