Yeah, just like Roman’s in FF2. No, I don’t care.
I thought that car was tacky when it was new and adding a big wing and purple paint didn’t really sell my otherwise, not even when the movie first came out. So serious, yet so painfully camp.
This was the car of my retired Air Force Colonel Uncle (well, sort of uncle) of whom I have the highest respect for as a person, but couldn’t have been a better poster child for making a former sporty car look, well, suburban.
It wasn’t fast, with its best engine producing 210 raging ponies, it wasn’t good looking, it wasn’t nice to drive (especially the convertible) and it just looked every bit the part of what a retired recruiter might consider sporty.
Like many other cars on this weekly list, this car earns my ire on account of what it used to be, what it could have been on its past glories and failed promises.
The eclipse was a genuinely cool car until this car. This is the cash in eclipse and i hate it for that.

yeah the generation before it became a mitsubishi stratus is the one to get, especially in GST or GSX trim

I know that the 1st generation of the DSM cars had a lot of reliability issues, but man, they were cool when they came out. They had been watered down to the point of being garbage with this gen.

And I remember when that generation was derided for being too blobby and a shell of the previous one (except GSX). It’s all relative :D

I don’t assign genders to cars, except these Eclipses, this is a girl’s car. The vert just makes it worse.

My mom’s frist new car was a ‘91 Eclipse base, back when they were honest to god sport compacts not trying waaaay too hard to look edgy. I like the 1st and 2nd gens cars well enough, especially in their faster forms. The 3rd and 4th gen cars are horrible and terrible and disgusting and bad.

yup. Its not like the 1st and 2nd gen didn’t have their issues, but at least they were true to form. This though. This is what happens when people with kids in high school try and dress like their kids

Yes! These are turrible .. just turrible. The 1st and 2nd gens looked fine (I don’t have any love for them personally, but I don’t have any problems with them visually) and had real performance versions. The 4th gen may have been fat and slow, but I thought it at least looked pretty good. The 3rd gen has no redeeming qualities. It’s just a slow ugly turd.

The second gen was the only decent generation of the Eclipse. The rest were pretty terrible. The one highlighted was the low point, but the only even marginally decent ones were the second and last ones. Regardless, the rode like crap.
