Kinja'd!!!

He didn’t get to come home as planned yesterday because he refused to eat. Still wouldn’t eat today but they think it’s more to do with being at the vet hospital. Not out of the woods yet. Days 3-5 after the surgery are when it’s most likely for the intestinal incision to burst. So if he’s good through Sunday, he should be good the rest of the way. 2 weeks in a cone and an additional 2 weeks of rest but after he should be back to normal and allowed to be a dog.

Every time you make one of these posts I have to go hug one or more of my cats. Poor old guy looks so down and sad in these photos, hope he feels better soon. (I’m assuming he’s an older dog from the white on his face.)

Glad to hear everything has gone smoothly (as it could) so far. Hopefully the next few days are problem free and he heals up nicely.

Human surgeons always look for the patient to pass gas as the first indication that the gut has woken up after a procedure. I wonder if it’s the same for dogs. Anyway, get well!

He’s about 8 1/2. His muzzle has been greeting out for a while now. He’s very sad with the cone on.

No idea. He farted on me last night while I was visiting him.

Hope so. They say he may not be interested in eating until tomorrow. He’s actively avoiding eating right now.

What kind of surgery? We’re very familiar with the cone of shame at our house, paid for a couple of the Vet’s kids to go to college so far. if you do dry kibble maybe toss a bit of water on it to soften it up, ours gets a re-hydrated food for dinner so it’s soft and stew like, human food grade... damn dog eats better than us most nights!

Pureformance - Grandma Lucy’s, if you can find it and afford it we highly suggest it.

Wish your pup a quick recovery!

He ate a tennis ball and a big chunk got caught in his small intestine. By far the most expensive vet bill. Never had a comma in a bill before.

No joke. He’s still refusing to eat but I wouldn’t put it past him to chew on a tennis ball right now
