I have several projects to get done, brakes, oil change, front struts, STi Top hats, Group N engine mounts, Group N transmission mount, and a Timing belt......I have a feeling the car will be in the air for a few days.

They are Wilwood 120-11132 Forged Superlite calipers and brakeswap.com makes a bracket for these calipers to run with Legacy GT factory rotors. so 12.6" discs....not quite a big brake kit but the biggest I can fit under stock 17" wheels....so not really a kit so much a pieced together.

Back in the day, I used to thrash my parents’ 01 5 speed outback in the snow. It reaallyyy needed more brakes but that was just part of the (very slow) challenge...

Yeah the brakes on this out back are so small it’s a joke, 11.5" up front, it’s a XT with a 5speed so it can outrun it brakes pretty fast. the first upgrade was the rear springs and struts...now it needs brakes then more power!

Just put stiffer springs in factory height. the rear springs on the factory outback just left the rear end bouncing.....I’ve put a coil spacer lift on some ZJ’s back in the day.

I know all about that. It’s so sketchy. Coilovers soon maybe, highway bump steer in a 4000LB car is no fun

I went this route because it will fit under my factory 17" wheels, and since it’s using Factory Legacy GT rotors the consumable costs are really cheap, Rotors are $60 each pads are $70 for the set. Also, the total cost for the upgrade was like $784....a complete kit costs a bit more. I’m sure the kits wilwood puts together are better with lighter, slightly larger rotors, but really that’s the only difference. The Legacy GT rotors are over 1" bigger than the factory Outback XT rotors so it’s still a great upgrade....nice thing about wilwood is most the time you can buy just one caliper and they are $170/each....also the pads for these are available almost everywhere.
