Kinja'd!!!

I’ve been searching for this photo for a while now... Finally found a copy in some old back-ups. But it’s my old KLR, my second motorbike I ever had. It’s a 1989 model that I picked up for a measly $650...

But I really wanted the photo cuz Monster Red Dog.. My old healer mutt.... She was never that psyched to ride in the crate, but she always knew that it meant we were going somewhere cool..... She was 18 when I put her down.. rest in peace Monster.

I’d kill to find a KLR for $650... Hell, I’d kill to find one for less than $4,500.

Yeah.. total luck find. A good buddy’s next door neighbor was selling it because he was too short for it.... I added about 20,000 mile on that thing before selling it for $1200. And the guy I sold it to got a great deal too!

My second bike! ‘81 xj650, after removal of the 80's fairing (with working 8 track!) and sissy bar. That bike made me swear off carbs and put me down the path of two wheels. Serious love hate relationship, at least I learned how to push start a bike with it!

It’s a testament to how ugly those 80's fairings were that you ditched an 8-track to be rid of it!

Nice bike!

Careful, don’t speak too nicely of it. The carbs were so plugged I had to hold the throttle about 1/5 open at stops to keep it from stalling. Its still in my parents backyard with the carbs pulled off

Believe it or not, I actually had a guy who wanted to buy the fairing, but the thing was just so big, it was impossible to ship it cheaply

Haha... I actually was doing some work to the carbs on the Elefant yesterday... oh to have some nice fuel injection...

At least on my airhead, the bing carbs are right there- so no problems with access. With the elefant, I’ve got to remove all the body panels just to see the carbs.... oh well...... small price etc etc...

That’s why I like the KLR so much... I’m 6'7" and it fits me pretty nicely!
