Could be. This thing doesn’t even look “engine-shaped” to me, so I have literally no idea.

Took another look... isn’t the Smart a 3cyl? I see 4 intake runners

I counted three intake runners, so I think that’s what it is.

“Looks like one o’them 0.5 liter engines from some Yooropean car. You just mash the hamster into that intake and go.”

Doesn’t the hamster usually go up the exhaust?

Looks like it’s a M266, based on searching on “A2660" (referenced in that listing): https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_M266_engine

Looks right. I wonder what it’s doing here. We never got the A-Class on this side of the pond, right?

Depends on which Gere you’re in.

What did it come in? A-Class was suggested but we never got that here.

I don’t know. Probably more likely to show up in Canada than the US, regardless, and there are A-classes old enough to meet the 15 year limit. I think the M166 engine is completely unique to the A-class, which makes it a puzzler.

Probably B-class, then. I was looking at the wrong mutation of the engine, and Canada *did* get the B-class, I think. Both the 166 and the 266 are very oddly shaped because they’re designed to slip under the car in an accident and package weirdly.

bhtooefr may have it... M266, which could be found in the B-Class. Which we did get.

Yep, I saw that. Typical Benz thinking: “Let’s make a tiny car that is packaged so weirdly that it requires a deranged engine package to work... What’s that? An opportunity to fuck up the engine compartment in another car so we can use the same weird package? BLISS!”
