Kinja'd!!!

Don’t lose your head.

This is seriously one of my bigger pet peeves. The garage entry on this rambler has a step-up, but the track for the garage door is only at eye level once you’re in the home, and is 14" horizontally from the doorway.

I like PNW housing for the quality and good design. The nice prices are just an added bonus.

Particle board says it all.

I think we can get some Final Destination going on here if we try hard enough.

How is that acceptable? I can’t believe someone would accept that design. It’s just wrong on so many levels.

I assume there’s some headroom above that garage door, but someone was too cheap to use a non standard track setup that would have raised that door up higher?

Is the track really at eye-level from the house? From this angle, it looks like it’s just barely higher than the doorway. Is it a custom doorway that’s cut extra short, just to fit under the track? Judging by the drywall seams, it looks like a standard 7'-ish door. I’m confused.

It’s at my eye level. I’m 6'

I still don’t get it. Maybe the angle of the pic is throwing me off. Is the doorway not tall enough for you?

I sense a lot of collisions in that homeowners future...

It’s the camera angle. It’s 14" away from the door, but from this angle it looks more like 4-5"

Ah, you’re right. I had to zoom in. Somehow I mistook the glossy horizontal surface above the door for a vertical one, thinking it was outward trim, rather than the top of the door frame. That totally threw off the rest of it for me. I can see now that the track indeed hangs lower than the top of the door. It’s still hard to see just how low it is, but it’s low enough to be an issue.

It tricked me at first too.
