Found a set on Kijiji that are new that a guy really wants to get rid of, thing is I don’t know anything about this brand. Any of you’s heard of them? Seem like a budget brand of Hankook.

Looks like Hankook is trying to keep their brand as a performance tire and Laufenn as a general use tire. But that’s just my reading.

It is the budget brand of Hankook. If you like Hankooks, I’m sure Lauffen tires will be fine.

There is a whole world of third tier tire manufacturers out there.. I ran Achilles ATR on the rally project;

I basically walked into my favourite shop and said I wanted the cheapest UHP all season that would fit wrx 16 wheels.. Ended up with four mounted for $405CAD.

Laufen actually means walking in German. Take that, for a tire brand name, however you like...

I was thinking of that myself, but I thought it meant running.

That said I’m only just starting to learn German, so...

What kind of surfaces were you running, and how well do you feel the tyre handled said surfaces?

This was the car;

These were the surfaces;

It ran well, it felt happy in gravel - controlled and stable with a bit of slide, not grippy like a winter or gravel tire but they were responsive to turning. Then broken pavement or good pavement they were solid and planted..

The car had wrx suspension and sways so it handled better than any brighton had any right too. It’s limits were the little ej22 wailing away and the 4eat trying to put it all down..

Much thanks, i also run a gravel track where i use winters atm, which is nice when it’s bloody soaked through, but once it dries up there’s typically a really hard compacted line through the turns, and some guys even run semi-slicks there, which especially help for the concrete hairpin.. Guess i’ll have to hope for a dry track on saturday and try the Contisport 2 i bought recently...
