Hey all,

Haven’t had time to take it to the shop, but managed to catch the noise on my new dashcam when I was turning into a road to drop something off to somebody yesterday. Hit the link and skip to 2:37 just before I turn in - you can see it only seems to start on harder braking and (in this case, for example) sometimes continues to make the noise even after I stop braking as well, but will eventually go away again. Starting to definitely think wheel bearing...

does it happen more turning in one direction or not?

If you’re thinking CV, I don’t think so - I had the joint replaced on that wheel last year or the year before, so I can’t think it’s failed that quickly, though I guess it’s possible.

That being said, it doesn’t seem to start making the noise unless I brake. I’ve never noticed it when simply turning yet.

i was thinking along the lines whenever you turn left (for instance) the right hand side wheel bearing would be taking more of a load and when you turn right the left ill be under load briefly, so i’m thinking as in the video you turned right it might be the left hand front bearing.

I’m 99% sure the noise is coming from the front left wheel. If I’m just turning I don’t hear it, but if I am braking and then turning right, I do seem to hear it more than if turning left...?

if your mechanic says front wheel bearing is faulty might be an option and do both front at same time

You don’t save any money replacing both at the same time...
