The Porker is back alive. After Europpomeet Aftermath’s disaster struck all physical damage is repaired. Color difference seems minimal but I have yet to see it outside, I’ve only seen the car inside the shop (and outside in the evening). Insurance of the “other party” already payed out luckily. Or should I say finally ?

Took the opportunity to refresh some stuff in the process. New tires. And mounted some yellow lenses for the foglights.
Things to be done: I ordered Bilsteins as replacement for the old, somewhat worn-out shocks. That in combination with the new tires should definitely improve the handling.
I’m having Lothar replace the oil-lines to the cooler up front. There seemed to be some dents in those up front, I’m sure the previous owner had a part in that (seems to be hurt by using some jack stands or something). And Lothar needs to sort out what the engine issue that led to all this actually is (“we” still think it’s the temp sensor of the Motronic, new one ordered).
Then the headlights themselves will receive yellow lenses as well and it’ll be finished then. For now. Next week.

Nice! And the yellow fogs look awesome too. And great idea on the new shocks and tires, that’ll surely make it handle like new.
I think the top picture shows a tiny bit of colour difference(could be the light though), but nothing too bad considering the rest of the paint is 30+ years old.

Yeah, the second to last shows it a bit as well. But could be because I know it’s new. Let’s wait and see how it looks outside in the sun.
HOEGH TRADER new ETA is the 27th. The handler got my bill of lading, will call tomorrow when we can pick it up.

If the job is well done, it shouldn’t be visible AT ALL. I’ve had my Corvette hit twice while it was parked (have to believe yellow plastic bodies are actually magnets??) and the repair and repaint was just PERFECT. It was impossible to notice a difference.

If a panel had some ”patina”, it would be hard, but for a with great condition paint, stored inside its whole life and so on, it shouldn’t be visible.
An old guy fell on my father’s Alpine a few years ago too. Car was parked and his cane hit hit the trunk, cracking the paint on impact. He had it repaired and it was absolutely invisible. Just perfect. Same with my Corvette... A bike feel on it scratching the entire side once and a car hit it while parked another time... Both were also invisible. Match making technology in term of paint today really is incredible. With a skilled body guy, no reason for it not to be perfect :)
How much did that end up costing you btw?
And the body shop was in Montreal. Called “Rennspa”... Awesome job really.

No worries on the lamp idea! Borsuq and I have thought about picking up patina’d FIAT 126p front panels and mounting them on a wall with a full lighting system as cool living room focal points....I just have the issue of being on the opposite side of the world from the source of patina’d FIAT 126p front panels :P

Well, hard... More work than anticipated! I’d expect only to have the screw under that ring around the lens to be removed but the entire unit does have to come off. I just delivered all brake parts to Edwin (who was working on the wiring and retour fuelline anyway) for the 02 to speed up the process.

Oh, good. Didn’t you get those brake parts a while ago? I should talk. I still haven’t installed the Le Car engine. I got a new clutch and everything. It’s going to be a lot of 10 minute jobs back to back.

I had the discs but they didn’t fit remember? So we’re taking the E30 route. But for that some machining was needed and I didn’t feel like doing that myself. That would have passed my 60 minute job limit as well.
