You have to remember this movie was made in the 70s. Even Vanishing Point and 2 Lane Blacktop have the same feel. Cannonball is a much more serious than the lighter hearted Cannonball Run. You don’t see someone shot in the head in that one, the guy crushed, or the Pantera that blew up. I never saw it in theaters either. I have it on dvd. Here it is below.
