Kinja'd!!!

It’s got to be, right? No one would debadge a C-Class, right? It has to be some super fancy expensive model.

I would like someone to buck the DIS IS DEFINITELY AN M/// CAR BRO trend by actually fully debadging an M3 or similar. And I mean fully, not even the wheels stickers, although I will give leeway to the gearstick.

Why not debadge? Looks cleaner and is literally the opposite of being a poser, you just want to blend in not stand out. Better than adding AMG badges to a non AMG car that’s for sure.

I thin that means replacing about 1,624 parts on an M3 though. . .

I love the debadged look. I pulled all the S8 and v10 badges off my S8, looks much cleaner. I’d pull the grille emblem, but it will leave an ugly void there. I figure anybody who knows the cars, knows what it is, and the folks that don’t, well, I don’t give a crap about them anyway.

This doesn’t bother me - as Rico suggests, they probably just wanted a cleaner look? A poseur would slap on all of the AMG Twin Turbo V8 SLS S65 Kompressor badges they could get their paws on.

Also, yesterday I saw the ultra rare Focus SE/ST live in the flesh, but couldn’t get a pic. It had all of the options that the SE has, including the slushbox trans. ST items included the badges AND an aftermarket exhaust. Very impressive.

They are festooned. So much so that you can tell a non-M vehicle by how few badges it has all over it.

Still not enough.

A guy on the E60/61 FB group put 518d badges on his 535d. Apparently to mess with the boy racers a little.

Festooned is a perfect description. And the back of that thing is awful. Ruins a great car.

Exactly. I wish I could pull all the Roush decals off my RS3 Mustang, but I don’t have that much time.

I had a friend in high school whose parents de-badged every single car they had.

Jettas, Suburban, Silverado, 530i etc. I don’t know exactly why.

Exactly. Anyone who is a real car enthusiast will know whether or not you have the real deal whether you have the badges or not. That’s why when I see people add fake badges to a car they are only playing themselves.

That’s good messing. I think I’d find a 114 badge and split it. World’s only 514d!

That’s a bit too low, people might get suspiscious. Even though an E61 518 never existed it’s close enough to fool people who aren’t complete BMW nerds.

I kind of feel like it’s the new fake AMG/M, though. I’ve been seeing this a lot lately, and it’s always CLAs/Cs/2 Series/3 Series. No one debadges the more costlier cars, and definitely never the AMGs/Ms.

I mean, maybe it is just to make the cars cleaner, but the fact that it’s concentrated on the lowest-priced cars makes it seems a lot like people want to give the impression that they have a more expensive model. It’s also far and away more common on Benzes and BMWs than anything else, which makes me think that it’s the same sort of people who put AMG and M badges, but they’ve cottoned on to the fact that people recognize it right off.
