Anyone try Pirelli P-ZERO Nero GT tires?

I just ordered a set from TireRack. The road test had them as one of the better max performance summers when it comes to noise/harshness, which is what I wanted for my bay area commute. Kind of curious since there don’t seem to be a ton of reviews. I had given some thought to Pilot Super Sports / Pilot Sport 4S’s but when it comes down to it, they’re double the price and 80% of my driving is commuting (even though I like to commute hard). Damn you, rational thoughts.

I appreciate the work TireRack puts into their testing. Even though it’s not always the cheapest way to go if you’re pinching pennies, it’s one of the few companies out there that seems to understand both the consumer and the enthusiast equally.

What’s the difference between the P Zero Nero GT and the P Zero Nero? I had a set of the latter a couple of years back, and I loved them.

For what it’s worth, which may not be much, if they’re anything like the P7s I have on my car, the tread ratings (700 on mine) are comically exaggerated. I’ve put about 25,000 on them and they’re already a bit too close to the wear indicator for that much mileage. I’m about 50/50 on whether I’d get them again. They’re far and away the best touring all seasons I’ve ever had, but eh.

I expect maybe 18k out of these. My car, my driving, and these bay area roads absolutely shred tires.

Standard P-Zero is a little more high end. It has a Pirelli Noise Cancelling System. Whatever that is. That’s the tire that competes with the Super Sports, I think.
